Aroha Cambridge Charitable Trust Appoints Trustees

… The Signing of the Trust Deed Launches A New Era for Biodiversity Efforts.

In a significant step forward for local environmental and conservation efforts, the Aroha Cambridge Charitable Trust has officially appointed its inaugural board of trustees and completed the signing of its Trust Deed.

The five trustees — Di Tocker, Peter Russell, Bertrand Salmi, Keith Scarlett, and Claire Williamson — bring a diverse range of expertise to the newly formed board, spanning biodiversity, riverway and land management, business, and the arts. United by a shared vision, the trustees are committed to enhancing the natural beauty of Cambridge through the protection and restoration of native birdlife and habitats.

“The establishment of this Trust represents a major milestone,” said a spokesperson for the Trust. “It provides a formal structure to build on the incredible work done by Predator Free Cambridge since 2017.”

With the Trust now formalised, a dedicated bank account can be established, allowing the organisation to apply for funding from sources such as the Waipa District Council and to receive and acknowledge public donations. Plans are also underway to appoint a part-time administrator to ensure compliance with legal obligations and to support funding applications.

The Aroha Cambridge Charitable Trust aims to continue the momentum started by grassroots conservationists, focusing on creating predator-free environments where native species can thrive, supported by extensive native planting and community engagement.

This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Cambridge’s ongoing journey to become a sanctuary for native flora and fauna.
